Through conversation comes understanding. Through understanding comes reconciliation.
Giving Voice Having Voice
Talking circles facilitate dialogue. The dialogue facilitated by Pat and Gary has to do with Native and Canadian history and culture. Only by understanding history can Native culture be appreciated. Within is the role and impact of oppression and prejudice and unconscious bias. Better understanding of these issues can help towards not only peaceful coexistence, but mutual respect and stewardship for land and other mutual interests. Pat and Gary offer a unique opportunity to openly discuss, learn and share values and insights. Who could benefit from a talking Circle? Anyone who seeks to better understand Native history, impact of colonization on Native life, culture and family, who is interested in resolving and reconciling issues therein, attributable to colonization could benefit from participating in a talking circle. This includes: Native groups; Elementary, middle and high school students; Students and parents; College and/or university students; Organizations. Talking Circles can be scheduled for a half day or evening or full day experience. Fee for service depends on distance to travel, group and available budget. We seek to be accessible as we can, recognizing we too must earn our living, while supporting the learning of others.
